Fresh imports don't wait. From the moment cargo clears Customs at the Port of Long Beach or Los Angeles, the clock is running on product quality, cold chain integrity, and order fulfillment. Just eight miles from the ports, Carson Cold Storage handles low-ethylene produce, on-site repacking, and certified cold storage. Here's how.
Port Proximity
Heavy Loads, Fewer Headaches, Close Neighbors.
Fresh imports often arrive in bulk, with containers floor-loaded, making container weight an important consideration. Because Carson Cold is close to the ports and supports fresh imports, traditional extra fees for overweight or XL containers are waived. Carson Cold sits just eight miles from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, next door to U.S. Customs. From port gate to cold dock, our location is designed to keep your product moving and your timeline intact.
Repack Services
Bulk In. Services Out.
Once your bulk produce arrives at Carson Cold, the real work begins. With 14 high-capacity baggers, the most in the third-party repack space, we handle production runs of virtually any size. Our high-output clamshell sorting lines, large hand-pack rooms, and dual-shift operation give you the capacity and flexibility to move volume without bottlenecks. Beyond repacking, we also offer reconditioning, restacking, and cross-docking services to cover every step of your product's journey.

With our Primus GFSI audits, we uphold the strictest industry standards in storing and processing your fresh items.
Operations & Commodities
Low-Ethylene Only. Here's Why.
A defining aspect of Carson Cold is the produce we process. To keep stored product as fresh as possible, our facility strictly operates on a low-ethylene protocol. The chemical gas ethylene, found most strongly in apples, bananas, and avocados, acts as a ripening trigger for all fresh produce. For this reason, our facility exclusively processes low ethylene-producing fruits: citrus, kiwi, grapes, stone fruit, onions, and so much more. With that protocol in place, our goal is straightforward: keep your product as fresh as naturally possible, from the moment it arrives to the moment it leaves.
* Ethylene sensitivity ratings sourced from UC Davis Postharvest Technology Center commodity fact sheets. High sensitivity indicates significant quality loss upon ethylene exposure; Low indicates minimal response.
